Muncie, Ind.: The Circle City Derby Girls Party Crashers fell after a tough fight against the Cornfed Derby Dames, resulting in their second loss to the Muncie team this season. During the Sunday afternoon away bout in the Gibson Skate Arena, Circle City jammers struggled to get lead past Cornfed's formidable defense while a strong blue jammer pool racked up points in favor of CFDD, landing them a 176-50 victory over the Indianapolis team.

The first jam pitted Circle City's Trudy Bauchery against Cornfed's Frida Brawlo, who grabbed a quick lead while Trudy got sent to the box. The power jam situation allowed Frida to grab 21 points for the home team. Party Crashers' rookie Wicked Baum-Chele took lead during the next jam, putting 2 points on the board for green before Muncie's OCDiva threatened to score. Unfortunately, the Derby Girls were unable to add points for much of the remaining half. CCDG's jammers were battered by aggressive blocking from Bruisey Ricardo, Betty Fhite and Juke Skyblocker.

While the twelfth jam of the period saw Bona Contention and Mistress Azrael execute some impressive tag-team blocking against Frida at the back of the pack, the scoreboard read 72-2 in favor of Cornfed when the four whistles blew. The Party Crashers were also unable to take advantage of a subsequent power jam while Muncie's jammer spent two minutes in the box for insubordination. It wasn't until the final jam of the period that Chele put ten more points on the board for Circle City after Frida went to the box on a track cut, resulting in an 86-12 halftime score in favor of the Dames.

The second half saw more jamming for green by Mistress Azrael and DG OzSome, who transferred to Circle City from Cornfed this year. Azzy added 2 points for the Party Crashers in jam four, but Cornfed already led with 111 by that point. Despite more aggressive offense and improved waterfalling, Circle City still struggled throughout the second period. In the seventh jam, CCDG managed to add some points when OCDiva went to the box on a low block after entertaining the crowd with jammer-on-jammer action against Azzy. Circle City made a dent in a still considerable 133-32 deficit. Despite adding a few more points in the last quarter of the game, the Indy team suffered defeat, 176-50.

The final score was an improvement over the Party Crashers' 204-40 loss to Cornfed at home in May, and was the latest chapter of a friendly rivalry between the central Indiana teams. The Party Crashers defeated Muncie in the final home bout of CCDG's 2011 season in a nailbiter that ended with a 109-100 win for green. Since that time, many of Circle City's B-team graduated to the Socialites - including star jammer Cassie Khaos, stalwart pivot Jackie Bauer and hard-hitting blocker Guiyatine Gretyl. The Party Crashers' 2012 rosters comprised many skaters who joined the league in the past year. Sunday's bout marked the debut of Circle City's Marguerite Evil. Wicked Baum-Chele and Strawberry Smackquiri took MVP jammer and blocker awards for the game, respectively.

Members of both of Circle City Derby Girls' teams will appear in costume bouts with the Indianapolis men's derby team, Race City Rebels, as part of the Irvington Halloween Festival. Stay tuned for details!
