Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the Circle City Derby Girls?

CCDG offers several recruitment workshops throughout the year, and has recently started hosting the CCDG Academy. The Academy and the new skater workshops are open to women age 18 or older who want to learn more about roller derby — no need to try out! Appropriate gear and some fees are required for participation. Please email joinccdg@gmail.com for more information or to put your name on the waiting list for an upcoming session. Be sure to "Like" Circle City Derby Girls on Facebook and follow our Twitter feed and Instagram for the most up-to-date announcements on our workshops.

I am interested in your league, but I’m not sure if I want to be a roller girl. Is there any other way for me to get involved?

Absolutely! We’re always looking for volunteers and non-skating officials (NSOs) to staff our bouts and welcome assistance with various administrative duties. If you like to skate, but don’t want to participate in a full-contact sport, you can also consider joining our referee crew. We also accept applications from off-skates or other coaches with appropriate experience. Email circlecityderbygirls@gmail.com for details on any of these exciting opportunities.

How do I sponsor or donate to the league?

CCDG loves our sponsors and we’re always looking for businesses and individuals who can donate money, goods or services to help us continue providing skating opportunities for women in central Indiana and hosting public bouts for our community. Sponsoring the league is also a great way to get your business’ name out to our community. To learn more about our sponsorship opportunities or download a copy of our sponsorship brochure, visit our Sponsors page. You can also email our sponsorship coordinator at ccdgsponsorship@gmail.com.

Can I interview, photograph or film CCDG members for a media story or project?

Our league is always looking for ways to get our name out in the community and share our love of roller derby. Please contact our public relations coordinator at ccdgpublicrelations@gmail.com with your request.

Will members of CCDG participate in my promotional event?

We definitely appreciate opportunities to partner with like-minded organizations and businesses, and to interact with members of our community. Please email ccdgpublicrelations@gmail.com with the details, and our public relations coordinator will be glad to evaluate your request.

I’m a member of another roller derby league, but I’m interested in practicing with CCDG. Who do I contact?

We do allow other skaters to attend some of our practices with prior approval. Please contact our interleague liaison at ccdginterleague@gmail.com to make arrangements and learn about the league’s policies for visiting skaters. We look forward to skating with you!

I'm a member of another roller derby league who is interested in transferring to CCDG. What should I do?

We do accept transfers from skaters who are members of other leagues in good standing. Please contact our Board of Directors at circlecityderbygirls@gmail.com and copy our interleague liaison at ccdginterleague@gmail.com to learn more about our transfer policies.

My league is interested in scheduling a bout with CCDG or offering members a chance to participate in another competitive opportunity. Who do I contact?

Thanks for your interest! CCDG hosts approximately five home bouts per year between April and August at our venue just north of Indianapolis, and some of those are double headers with our A- and B-teams. Both teams also travel for several away bouts per year. Please let us know if you’re interested in getting on our schedule or inviting either of our teams to your venue. We will also consider tournament, scrimmage and other requests on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our interleague liaison at ccdginterleague@gmail.com with your inquiry.

Still Have Questions?
