Welcome, prospective skater or volunteer! These are the Circle City Derby Girls’ forums/boards where all league information is discussed and shared (not to be confused with The Forum at Fishers on 126th St where our home bouts take place or our Board of Directors). Please check back often to stay up-to-date with what’s going on.
The first step is to register an account. After you are registered, e-mail circlecityderbygirls@gmail.com with your username EXACTLY as spelled to prove to us you’re a real person and not a spambot.
When your account is activated, you will have public access to read and post in “Event Announcements” and “Fan Area.” Once you become a dues paying member of our league, you will have access to the Skaters Only section where you will find all the forums that contain information on our policies, how to make a roster, our practice schedule, a place to ask referees questions, committee updates, our chat room, and more.
Tips:
All unread forums/posts glow green. To make things easier on yourself, just start with the most recent and work your way back to get familiar with things. After you are caught up with the most recent things you need to know, hit “Mark forums read.”
When you come back, you can click “View new posts” to see everything new posted that day. If you’ve been gone more than one day, click “View active topics” to see everything new in order starting from most recent.
In topics you have visited previously, when there is a new post there will be a little green square that looks like a sticky note to the left of the subject title. Click that to be taken directly to where you left off without having to scroll or navigate bunches of pages.
If you have a question about a topic like Wheels, try the most logical area first (Chat Room > Gear > Wheels & Bearings) before making a new post to find out if your question has already been asked and answered. If logic fails, try a search by using the search bar in the upper right hand corner. After an initial search for “wheels”, you can “Search these results” in the upper left corner. Example: “atom” to find out information about atom wheels.
Lastly, when you have a question you should consider who you could ask already that might have the answer such as your mentor, a committee chair, the Board of Directors, or a coach. You have a great idea for a sponsor or event? Contact the chair of Sponsorship or Events. If you don’t know who that is, ask your friendly neighborhood league member who does. (See Private Messages below)
We try to keep our forums neat and organized so please, if you must start a new topic, try to post it in the correct area. Posts about a fitness activity you’d like to do with your fellow skaters, should go under Fitness/Nutrition/Skills Talk under Chat Room. A post about a league event should go under Events under Committees & Meeting Notices. Remember that only you can prevent forest fires...and messy forums.
Private Messages/PMs:
To send a message, go to User Control Panel > Private Messages. Type in the username exactly or use “Find a member” and click Add to add them to the message. You can add up to 5 usernames or groups to a message. Fill in your subject and body and hit submit. The message goes to your outbox until that person reads it, then it will go to your Sent Messages Folder.
You can make your own folders to keep received messages organized if you like. There is a limited amount of space in all inboxes.
To send a message to a group like “Skaters”, instead of clicking Add, click “Add [BCC]”. Then type in your own username and click “Add”. This way if you send out a message to all skaters, anyone who replies will reply only to you. If you do NOT do this, replies will go to the entire group filling up inboxes unnecessarily and possibly sharing private information.
Everything else you can pick up as you go. If you have questions/problems, you can contact Jackie Bauer. If you have problems with Tapatalk, the mobile app for reading forums....sorry, Jackie can’t help you.
